FirePoint-2 fire alarm control panel
The FirePoint-2 is a simple-to-use but fully featured fire-alarm
control panel. It was designed by fire-alarm installers to
be suitable for all but the very largest installations. If
you need a fire alarm for an office, school, shop, factory,
multiple occupancy building or warehouse then please take
some time to consider how the FirePoint-2 can help you.
The FirePoint-2 can be installed faster and more cheaply
than conventional fire alarm systems but provides many useful
features that a conventional alarm simply cannot offer.
FirePoint has a free and open protocol without any special
access-codes or programming software needed.
Key features:
FirePoint-2 is faster and cheaper to install than most other alarm systems
One of the main reasons that a FirePoint-2 installation is cheaper even than a conventional fire alarm system is because it uses the same wires for both monitoring and alarm sounding. This means you halve the amount of cable needed and hence halve your cable costs. Because you run less cable you also spend less time doing it. Typically you can expect to reduce the time spent installing cables by at least 30% compared to the time needed for a similar sized conventional alarm system. [back to list]
FirePoint-2 is easy to install
The FirePoint-2 is an addressable fire alarm system that is easier and faster to install than a conventional fire alarm system. This is partly because, as mentioned above, the FirePoint-2 uses only two wires for both monitoring and alarm sounding, and partly because we designed it to be fast and simple in the first place. It has many easy-to-use diagnostic features that can be used to quickly complete an installation with confidence. When you receive a new FirePoint-2 control panel you can have it up and running just using the default settings - you don't have to tweak, adjust or program anything if you don't want to. Just use the features that you need and the features you don't need can be left happily alone and won't bother you. [back to list]
FirePoint-2 is adaptable
It is always nice to know that you have a piece of kit that will "do-the-job" and do it well. But then when every job is different, what do you do? The school needs a class-change but it needs to link to an automatic timer. The residential home has four sites and every one must have its own control panel, but they must also link together. The office block has smoke vents that must operate automatically. The shopping complex wants alarm systems in every shop unit linked to a central control. The warehouse at the airport needs a discontinuous (on-off-on-off ringing) warning signal and a continuous evacuation signal. The nursery needs a repeater panel 70 metres away from the main control panel so that the same fire information can be seen in both locations. The FirePoint-2 handles all these of situations with such ease that you might be surprised at how little effort will be needed from you. But does all this flexibility make the FirePoint-2 a bit complicated for the ordinary, simple jobs? No, not at all. In fact it is possible to get a working installation by wiring the detectors and sounders to the control panel (just as with any other system), connect the power, flick one switch in the panel, wait ten seconds, flick it back again and there you'd have it - one working fire alarm system, on duty. FirePoint-2 is fully featured
With the FirePoint-2 you get most of the features of expensive analogue addressable
systems for the price of cheap conventional fire-alarms. But lots of features
doesn't mean that FirePoint-2 is complicated. We reckon most people will find
that the FirePoint-2 is easier to use than their home video recorder! The controls
are designed to be as intuitive as possible. Also FirePoint-2 can do much of the
work for you. If you don't need a feature, you just ignore it - simple as that!
In fact it is easily possible to install and commission an addressable alarm system
without doing any programming. Full list of
features. [back to list]
FirePoint-2 installations can be very small, quite big or simply huge
With FirePoint-2 you can have just a couple of detectors or you can fit up to 128 individual detectors per panel. If you need to create a huge installation without spending huge amounts of money then you can connect several FirePoint-2 control panels together without compromising ease of use or reliability. The detectors can be any combination of heat detectors, smoke-beams, duct probes, smoke detectors, call-points or input units. If you are upgrading or replacing an existing fire-alarm system you can, in many cases, save time and money by reusing any existing wiring. [back to list]
FirePoint-2 likes to connect
When you need to connect a fire-alarm system to other equipment then the FirePoint-2
can do it. Perhaps you want a simple class change input for a school or you need
to connect to the alarm in an adjacent building, to the landlord's fire alarm
system or to smoke vents or ventilators. FirePoint-2 is designed for such
situations. It has several interfaces as standard and can be equipped with
others as options. For more information about these interfaces please see
the firepoint 2 technical articles.

FirePoint-2 is neat
The metal box is designed to look good even in front office or reception areas, where you require to recess the panel in a wall a semi-flush mounting frame is available. [back to list]
FirePoint-2 is reliable
After a FirePoint-2 system has been commissioned you can leave it running with confidence. Every detector will be monitored every few seconds. The FirePoint-2 also performs regular self checks and will be quick to let you know if anything isn't quite right. Naturally all the features you would expect any fire-alarm system to have, such as a battery back-up and a rapid response to fires, are standard. If you like, you can instruct the FirePoint-2 to give you a reminder when it is time for routine maintenance. [back to list]
